Team Texas Trip

Each summer since 2010, TQBA selects a 6-student team to represent the state at the National All-Star Academic Tournament. Texas has finished in the top 5 each year and in 2011 won the event. In recent years we have used the road trip as an opportunity to visit educational sites of interest. Here are the places we have visited thus far or plan to visit:

2014: Columbus, Ohio; Shiloh Battle Field, Mammoth Cave (in the planning phases)
2013: Columbus, Ohio; National Civil Rights Museum, Harper’s Ferry, Gettysburg Battle Field, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, Times Square
2012: Columbus, Ohio; Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, Niagara Falls, Clinton Presidential Library
2011: College Park, Maryland;  Cedar Point Amusement Park

In order to be considered for a place on Team Texas, students should do the following:

  1. Participate in at least two Texas Quiz Bowl Camps
  2. Choose Geography, Humanities, Science, or Social Studies as your specialty
  3. Attend as many TQBA tournaments as possible
  4. Take the individual assessments corresponding to your speciality
  5. Participate at the annual Texas Invitational
  6. Participate at the annual TQBA Championship
