On Saturday, we will play in Cameron (#1 on the map) and Strake Halls (#2). Please enter off Bellaire and park next to #1 and #2 behind the Fiesta complex.
On Sunday, we will play in Agee Hall (#14). Please enter off Gessner Road onto George Drive (opposite Clarewood) and park in the lot next to the Lilly Field House (#21) across George Road from Agee Hall.
Event I: Texas Invitational: Eisenhower Memorial Tournament
Event I is a power-marked “regular-minus difficulty” undergraduate question set and will feature 16 teams. We will be using ACF timing rules on Saturday. The format for EMT will be split round robin (2 groups of nine teams for 8 matches) followed by cross-matches (5-4 for 5 matches) and finals (if necessary). The top 8 teams at this event will receive plaques.
Event II: Texas Invitational: NAQT ICT Division II
Event II is a mirror of the 2016 NAQT ICT Division II. The field will feature 20 teams for this event. The format for NAQT will be similar to that of HSNCT, and we will be using NAQT timing. We will start the morning with a preliminary card system designed such that teams will play other teams with the same or similar records. After lunch, we will play a double-elimination playoff with built-in consolation matches. Though some teams will be eliminated from contention early, every team will play at least 12 games. The top 8 teams at this event will receive plaques.
A trophy be awarded to the overall champion of Texas Invitational. Every team that places among the top 8 in either competition will be awarded championship points corresponding to their place (1 point for first, 2 points for second…). The team that places in both tournaments AND finishes with the fewest championship points will received the trophy. If two (or more) teams are tied in points, then the first tiebreaker will be total points in matches between the teams that are tied. The second tiebreaker will be combined bonus conversion across all matches over the two days. The third tiebreaker is the lowest Herfindahl index.
Lunch will be included with entry fees for all teams. Saturday’s lunch will be chips and sandwiches. A variety of bread, meats, cheeses, and condiments will be available. Sunday’s lunch will be pizza. Vegetarian options will be available each day.
Drinks and Snacks will be available throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Available items with price lists are given below:
- $2: Bottled Soda, Sour Candy
- $1: Bottled Water, Chocolate Candy, Salty Snacks
