02/28 Texas Invitational V

Texas Quiz Bowl will host its 5th annual Texas Invitational Weekend of Quiz Bowl in Houston at Rice University on February 28-Mar 2, 2014. The weekend will include a mirror of the 2014 NAQT SCT and 2013 ACF Regionals. Each team can expect to play up to 30 matches over three days.

Event I: Texas Invitational: NAQT
Texas Invitational is a mirror of the 2014 NAQT SCT for up t0 32 secondary teams.

Event II: Texas Invitational: ACF
The second Texas Invitational event is  a mirror of ACF Regionals. This event is open to both high school and college teams. Here is a link to last year’s ACF Regionals packets.

Hotel
If you will have a car and are able to drive around Houston, we suggest the La Quinta Energy Corridor (2451 Shadow View Lane 77077). this location is 15 miles west of Rice University. I have arranged for a group rate of $74 (plus tax) per night for a standard two queen bed room. They offer free continental breakfast. Please reserve into the TEXAS QUIZ BOWL GROUP.

Fees
The fee for one event is $175. The fee for participating in both events is $300.

Food
Lunch (for NAQT Teams) and Dinner (for ACF Teams) on Saturday will be included. Other meals will not be provided. There will be no formal meal breaks. We will break for about 20 minutes for quick meals. Drinks and Candy will be sold at the tournament.
