2012 Camp Course Offerings

For the first time in 2012, Texas Quiz Bowl will offer a middle school introductory curriculum at its camp. This survey course of study will include 10 individual days highlighting major focus areas of the high school canon accessible to middle school students:

  • Course I: This first course will include instructional days centering on The Bible, Classical Composers, Greek Mythology, Sculpture, and Shakespeare
  • Course II: This course will include instructional days on  20th century World Leaders, Bodies of Water, Nations, Numbers, and Trash.

Our High School courses will include the following days of instruction.

Choice A

  • Arts: architecture, jazz, opera, sculpture, and classic film
  • Assorted Science: numbers, notable problems, eponymous, particle physics, and computer science
  • Classical Music: composers I,  composers II, compositions I, compositions II, theory
  • Current Events: Contemporary Authors, Modern Newsmakers, Nations, Pop Culture, 20th century leaders

Choice B

  • Geography:  rivers, lakes, islands, mountains, and political geography
  • World mythology: The first two days of this course will highlight Greek Gods & Heroes and Ancient Greek and Roman Drama. The second two days will focus on the gods and heroes from all major mythology traditions. The final day will center on themes found across multiple mythologies.
  • World History:  Notable Events, European Monarchs, World Dynasties, World Conflicts, Religious History
  • World Literature: Bible, Shakespeare, Contemporary Authors, 20th century World Novelists and Literature Themes

Choice C: Interdisciplinary Courses will highlight the history, literature, mythology, and geography of the region.
