Chris Romero (email) is a 20+ year veteran of quiz bowl competition; he began playing as a middle-schooler in 1990. Chris holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University where he also earned his bachelor’s and master’s (Computer Engineering, Mathematics). In TQBA’s seasons, Chris has directed more than 100 quiz bowl tournaments, brought two national tournaments (02/04 HSNCT) to Texas, started Texas Quiz Bowl summer and winter camps, created Texas Invitational (the nation’s premier regular-season event) and managed the five-fold expansion of quiz bowl in the nation’s largest circuit.
As a player, Chris was the captain of Texas A&M’s 2006 ACF National Championship winning team and four other ACF National top 5 A&M finishes. Chris coached the 2011 Texas All-State team to a NASAT Championship. Chris has a Quiz Bowl Wiki Page and is the namesake of the Romero method. Chris is a high school math teacher in Houston.
Steve Fontenot (email) is a 1996 graduate of Strake Jesuit (Houston) and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Southwestern University (Georgetown) in 2000. He currently works as a communications manager for the University of Texas at Dallas. He is the founder of the San Antonio quiz bowl circuit, and has served as a nationals moderator since 2006. He is the recipient of the 2013 Alumni Community Award from Alpha Phi Omega’s Alpha Gamma Kappa chapter at his alma mater, Southwestern, for his work with TQBA.
Joey Ewbank is a 2014 graduate of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and is currently a Computer Science Major and UTeach student at the University of Texas.
Christina Lacamu is a 2014 graduate of St. Agnes Academy and is currently a Biology major at St. Edwards University.
