AOS wins first MS event at Viking

Congratulations to the team from Annunciation Orthodox School who won their school’s first ever TQBA middle school event on Saturday at the Viking Invasion III at the Village School. The AOS team began the playoffs seeded 4th after a preliminary stage loss to the Kinkaid school. AOS defeated teams from T.H. Rogers and Beckendorff Junior High in the first two playoff rounds before again facing the Kinkaid team. The Dolphins squad avenged its earlier loss with a 460-240 defeat of Kinkaid in the semifinals before beating Fort Settlement Crimson 470-200 in the final. In the elementary group on Saturday, the A team from Beckendorff emerged victorious from a group of 7. Statistics from Saturday’s event are available at this link.

At the event the eight quarter-finalist teams earned bids to the 2018 NAQT Middle School National Championship event to be held in Chicago on Mother’s Day Weekend. The qualifiers were single teams from Annunciation Orthodox, Beckendorff, Fort Settlement, Rogers, and the Village School along with two teams from St. John’s School. The next chance to qualify for nationals in Houston will be at the Strake Jesuit Prep Bowl event on November 4th. A registration link for Prep Bowl is available at this link.
